Walt Disney: Marceline to Magic Kingdom Tour

Explore how events in Walt Disney’s life helped shape the Walt Disney World Resort and the attractions within it. As one of Walt’s final visions, the Magic Kingdom Park shares many similarities and likenesses to the storyline of his life. By using the park as a walking timeline, guests will discover how the events in Walt’s life helped develop his understanding and view of the world around him, and inspired him to create some of the most wonderful and cherished stories and attractions in our theme parks. During this 2.5 to 3 hour walking tour, guests will also get an insider look into the operation and design of some of the most beloved attractions in the Magic Kingdom Park.

Time & Location : 8:15am M,W,F  in the Chamber of Commerce (just inside Magic Kingdom on the left).  This tour starts before the park is open.  Guests with tour reservations can enter the Magic Kingdom through the far left turnstiles.

Ending Location: Outside Carousel of Progress

Duration: 2.5-3 hours (My tour was just over 2 hours long.)

• Private, lights on, guide-narrated ride on Snow White’s Scary Adventures (This attraction is slated for removal as part of the Fantasyland Expansion, so the tour will change in the not too distant future.)

• Private, guide-narrated ride on Carousel of Progress

*Disney’s tour schedules and content can change at any time due to a variety of factors. Rest assured, if for some reason the tour can’t or doesn’t go to one of the stops you’ve read about here or on other websites, your Tour Guide still has plenty of magic up their sleeves to make sure you have a wonderful tour experience.

Photography Restrictions: This is an onstage tour, photography is permitted.  However, I doubt it would be kosher to take photos of Snow White’s Scary Adventures with the lights on.

Bag Storage: Guests carry their baggage with them.  If you don’t want to hold your bag throughout a 2.5-3 hour walking tour, consider getting a locker at the front of the park.

Additional Notes: This is an outdoor walking tour – dress appropriately, wear suncreen & good shoes. Disney will not cancel or provide refunds for this tour (or most others) in the event of inclement weather (Disney will cancel for hurricanes, but not average rain).

The podcast team discusses the appropriateness of the tour’s name. Having taken the tour, I consider the name as a reference to the time period starting from when Walt lived in Marceline all the way up to changes happening in the Magic Kingdom today.  It is not a tour specifically about how Marceline influenced the building of the Magic Kingdom, though that is discussed in part.
